Custom Backyard Patio and Outdoor Kitchen Project in San Diego

We recently finished a full backyard build in San Diego CA, and this was one of those jobs where we handled everything from start to finish. The homeowners wanted a clean outdoor space they could actually use and enjot, not just something that looks good in photos. So we built the whole backyard from the ground up.
This project started with a full 3D design. We sat down with the homeowners and showed them how the space would look before anything was built. This helped lock in the layout and materials early. Once the design was approved, we took care of HOA approval and all required city permits. That part alone can be stressful for homeowners, but we handle it every day so it moved along smooth and fast.
The first step on site was the retaining wall. We built it solid and finished it with stucco to match the home. That wall helped level the yard and created a clean edge around the patio area. After that, we installed the tile flooring. This was LVT tile, which holds up well outdoors and is easy to maintain. It also stays cooler than some other surfaces, which helps a lot during warm San Diego days.
Next came the patio cover. This gave the space shade and made it usable even when the sun is strong. We add lighting so the homeowners can sit outside in the evening too. Under the cover, everything feels open but still protected from the sun.
And then we have the outdoor kitchen. We built it with stone finish and installed a built in grill area that works great for hosting. The stone adds texture and ties in well with the rest of the yard. Its very functional, but also looks clean and balanced with the space.
This home is located not far from Miramar Lake. This area has a lot of homes that benefit from outdoor upgrades like this, since the weather allows people to use their yard most of the year.
