Masonry Contractor in San Diego County - US Pacifica Builders
They had total control of the project and optimal organization.
Very happy with the result and will use them again in any project in the future!
Sam, the project manager, was great to work with. He was easy to communicate with, kept us updated throughout the process, and made sure things stayed on track. Any time we had a question or concern, Sam was quick to respond and handled it right away, which made the whole experience much less stressful.
Overall, we had a really positive experience with US Pacifica Builders and would definitely recommend them to anyone thinking about a kitchen remodel. We’d happily work with them again.
They are extremely professional and will definitely be hiring them for our next project! We quoted with several contractors and US Pacifica not only have very reasonable pricing but they also helped design and gave excellent recommendations.
Ask for Sam. He was always available and responded to all our concerns during the remodel. He worked with our schedule, and our dogs. His team, especially Vago did a phenomenal job with the vision we had, and met our expectations. Prior to the remodel being finished we reviewed the work and addressed anything that needed to be finished.
I highly suggest to have all the materials to have any remodel done in a timely manner. There is always something unexpected, but having everything ready for the team made it go fast. Definitely a learning curve.
LOVE our new bathrooms! Feels like we are showering at a luxury hotel everytime.
We will definitely be reaching out to them for future updates!

When the Anderson family noticed their retaining wall starting to lean in La Jolla last spring, they weren’t sure if it was a big deal or not. few weeks later, a section collapsed during those heavy rains we had. That’s when they called us, and we realized something – most people don’t know when small masonry problems turn into expensive emergencies.
We’ve been working on brick, stone, and block structures across San Diego County for years now. From the coastal homes in Encinitas dealing with salt air damage to the older neighborhoods in Normal Heights where settlement cracks show up in chimneys, we’ve pretty much seen it all, or at least most of it. The thing about masonry work is that it’s not like painting – you can’t just cover up problems and hope they go away.

Brick & Block Work
A guy in Clairemont called us last month about his brick mailbox. He thought it was just cosmetic damage, but when we got there, the whole thing was ready to fall over. Brick and block work around here takes a beating from our weather – those hot dry summers followed by winter rain create expansion and contraction that tears mortar apart.
We handle everything from installing new brick facades on commercial buildings in Mission Valley to repairing block walls that separate properties in Mira Mesa. Most people think block walls are maintenance-free, but that’s not really true. Like everything else, they requires attention every now and than.
Settlement Cracks
Here’s what happens – you notice a small crack in your foundation wall or chimney. Maybe it’s been there a while, you’re not sure. Then the rains come and water starts showing up inside. By the time you call someone, what started as a $500 repair is now may be a $5,000 problem.
Settlement cracks are huge in areas like Del Cerro and Allied Gardens where the soil shifts. We can tell pretty quick if a crack is only surface level or if you’ve got real foundation movement happening. Not every crack means your house has serious issues of course, but some definitely need attention.
Leaks
The leak part is tricky because water finds the path of least resistance. We’ve seen leaks in Point Loma homes where the water was coming in 15 feet away from where the actual damage was. Brick chimneys are famous for this – the crown cracks, water gets in, then shows up on your ceiling 2 floors down.
Leak repairs usually involve more than just sealing cracks. You got to figure out why water is getting there in the first place. Is it drainage? Is the flashing bad? Is the masonry itself deteriorating? We’ve repaired leaking retaining walls in Tierrasanta where the weep holes got clogged and pressure built up behind the wall.
Custom Masonry
This is the fun stuff. We’ve built outdoor pizza ovens in Rancho Santa Fe, custom fire pits in Pacific Beach, and stone entryways for homes in Scripps Ranch. When someone wants something unique, they usually don’t find it at Home Depot lowes.
We do a lot of outdoor kitchens in backyards around here. People want the whole setup – stone countertops, brick pizza oven, built-in BBQ areas. The wealthy neighborhoods like La Jolla and Coronado have some amazing outdoor living spaces, and we’ve built quite a few of them.
Masonry Repair and Maintenance
Most people never think about maintaining their masonry until something breaks. But brick, stone, and block need regular attention just like everything else on your property.
Tuckpointing is probably the most common maintenance we do. That’s where we grind out old deteriorated mortar and put in new stuff. In coastal areas like Ocean Beach and Imperial Beach, the salt air eats mortar faster than you’d think.
Chimney repairs also keeps us busy. This is also important for your home insurance as they may not renew your policy if there are issues with the chimney.
Retaining wall maintenance is big in hilly areas like Mount Helix and the neighborhoods around Cowles Mountain. These walls hold back tons of soil, and when they fail it’s not a pleasant situation. We do regular inspections and repairs to catch problems early. Adding drainage behind walls is something we do a lot – most older walls don’t have proper drainage and that’s not good.
Mortar Analysis
This sounds technical, and it kind of is. But it matters more than people realize, especially on older buildings.
Mortar isn’t all the same. Different eras used different mixes, and if you repair old masonry with modern hard mortar, you can actually damage the brick or stone. We do mortar analysis to figure out what was originally used, then we match it.
New Masonry Construction Services
When you’re starting from scratch, doing it right the first time saves money in the long run. We’ve built everything from small garden walls to large porches.
Foundation work is where we start on most projects. Block foundations are common in residential construction, especially for hillside homes in areas like La Mesa and Lemon Grove. The foundation has to be engineered properly for the soil conditions and the load it’s carrying.
We build a lot of block walls for new construction – property line walls, decorative walls, structural walls for buildings. In neighborhoods like Eastlake and Otay Ranch where they’re still building, we work with developers and contractors on new residential communities.
Outdoor structures are also very popular – we build new BBQ islands, fire pits, planters, and seat walls for both residential and commercial properties. The key is building them to last in our climate. Using the right materials and proper drainage makes most the difference.
Stonemasonry
Working with natural stone is different than brick or block. Each piece is unique, and fitting them together takes experience and an eye for it.
For example dry stack stone walls are popular for landscaping. These are walls built without mortar, using the weight and friction of the stones to hold everything together. They have a rustic look that works great for homes in the backcountry areas.
Stone steps and walkways see a lot of use at mountain properties and hillside homes. Natural stone treads with mortared joints last forever and look better as they age.
If you’ve got cracks, leaks, or need new masonry construction we’ll come take a look and tell you honestly what needs to be done. Sometimes it’s a simple fix, sometimes it’s not. But at least you’ll know what you’re dealing with.
